About Us

Sophia's Wings was founded in 2017 by Executive Director, Deanna Slifka. In 2012, Deanna's daughter, Sophia, was born sleeping after her heart unexpectedly stopped beating on the morning her scheduled c-section. Sophia was a heart valve donor, allowing Deanna to receive free grief counseling through Lifebanc, Northeast Ohio's Organ, Eye, and Tissue Procurement Organization.

Deanna, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio, wanted to be able to give local families

who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss the opportunity to attend grief counseling without

worrying about the financial cost.

Do I qualify for free grief counseling at Sophia's Wings?

If you or your loved one has experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy or neonatal death (death of an infant within first 28 days of life), you qualify for free counseling. Call us at 330-540-4037 to schedule an appointment.
